October brings the horror at Scream Creek Haunted Woods

It's that time of year again.  The monsters and ghouls have gathered for the slaughter that is the month of October at Scream Creek Haunted Woods.

For the past 5 seasons I have had the privilege of working and scaring at Scream Creek Haunted Woods in Springfield, TN.  My wife and I have been with them since the haunt first opened, and have loved every minute of our time there.

Scaring people isn't always as easy as you might think, and going in you have to be aware that there are some folks who come out just to make fun of the entire thing.  That's OK, let them have their fun.  They aren't the ones I am there for.  I'm there for the ones who run into the darkness screaming in utter fear, and the ones who refuse to enter a room because they know something is waiting for them.  The teenage girls and the grown men who freeze with terror, unable to move and only sometimes able to scream, are the ones who make haunting worth dealing with every jackass drunk guy who walks through.  You haven't lived if you've never truly terrified another human being.  Dark I know, but oh so true.

Last weekend was the first of our season, and with it usually comes many kinks to be worked out.  By week two the technical stuff begins to come together, and the actors begin to hit their stride as they become accustom and familiar with their spot and character.  This is the weekend that I really start getting excited for.  Last Saturday night brought us a pretty large crowd.  This week the crowd will be bigger, and the haunt as a whole will be better.  Basically, IT'S GO TIME!

This year I will have my digital camera and FLIP cam with me to capture some of the awesomeness that is Scream Creek.  Throughout the month of October we will be posting pics, vids, and stories from the haunt to help celebrate the best season of the year.  Haunt Season!
